Dickon Drury
Dickon Drury is a Slade graduate and follows the ucL style. Her paintings are flat, narrative and interesting. She is good at using color to create changes in light and shadow, and most of the colors in the picture are light and dreamy.
Dickon Drury is a very creative artist and I was influenced not only by her use of color but also by her unconventional use of lines. I always try to minimize the line in the picture, but she uses clear lines to show the subject. Different from the shape of block surface accumulation, lines can help highlight the main object more easily. At the same time, the seemingly random but implicit certainty of the line can help me highlight the emotion better and more firmly.
I look at Dickon Drury for her early work in school. When I looked at her website recently, I noticed that she had also started to draw repetitive pictures. Recording and describing the same thing, but adding subjective colors and subtle changes, different sizes, creates repetitive paintings that depict the same object but have completely different emotions.
